I just finished reading Divergent (Divergent Series) by Veronica Roth. For me, the pacing of this story is excellent! Similar to the Hunger Games in that ‘edge of your seat’ feel. While I enjoyed the read, I felt like the main character’s reaction to events regarding her parents at the end of the novel were really not believable. Faced with a similar event, most people wouldn’t be able to function or continue on as if very little had happened. While I know her life and experiences in the novel changed her, these parents were people with whom she grew up. They are her PARENTS. I don’t think anyone would react as this main character did, which threw me off as a reader. (I’m trying very hard not to spoil the ending here, so forgive my vagueness.) Still, I’m excited to read the rest of the trilogy.
